I believe a profound, quiet strength emerges only after we have been weathered by life. In Through All the Scars, I wanted to capture that delicate balance between absolute vulnerability and enduring inner resilience.
Emerging from a shadowy backdrop of heavily textured earth tones—raw umber, deep sienna, and smoky charcoal—the figure is illuminated by a cool, ethereal light, representing a literal and metaphorical awakening from the dark.
I built the canvas using intuitive layering and highly tactile, visible brushstrokes to mirror the complex topography of human experience. To me, every mark, scratch, and overlapping glaze tells a story of survival. The softly downcast eyes do not signify defeat; instead, they are my invitation for you to step into a quiet, meditative moment of introspection.
