About the artist
My name is Kristina "Kiki" Spring (née Kucerova). I was born in 1985 in former Czechoslovakia. I began my academic training at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia, combining literature and fine arts to form the conceptual foundation of my work today. In 2011, I moved abroad first to the United States and then to Switzerland, where I have since established my life and art studio. Living between cultures has profoundly shaped my perspective, strengthening my focus on identity, inner resilience, and emotional autonomy.
After nearly a decade away from the canvas, I returned to painting with a renewed clarity of vision. Today, I dedicate my art entirely to expressive original portraits and abstract landscapes.
My signature style is defined by a mix of thick textures, fluid acrylic washes that mimic the transparency of watercolors, edgy spray paint, and expressive brushstrokes. I explore emotional presence and a feeling of calm through a signature warm, golden palette. Inspired by autumnal light, these tones are chosen specifically to evoke a sense of stillness, grounding, and deep relaxation.
Each composition is built through an intensive process of intuitive layering, sometimes applying up to 20 layers. This allows the "footprints" of each stage to remain visible, creating a beautiful dialogue between simplicity and complexity.
Working from my studio in Zug, Switzerland, I create artworks designed for sophisticated contemporary interiors. Ultimately, my paintings are intended to bring a sense of tranquility and presence into a space; works that do not loudly demand attention, yet quietly command it.
