About the artist
My name is Kristina "Kiki" Spring (née Kucerova). I was born in 1985 in former Czechoslovakia. I began my academic training at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia, combining literature and fine arts to form the conceptual foundation of my work today. In 2011, I moved abroad first to the United States and then to Switzerland, where I have since established my life and art studio. Living between cultures has profoundly shaped my perspective, strengthening my focus on identity, inner resilience, and emotional autonomy.
After a decade away from the canvas, I returned to painting with a clear, singular vision. Today, my work explores the beauty of persistence by bridging two distinct worlds: connecting the profound stories of history’s unknown heroines in my portraits with the lighthearted, playful joy of Swiss nature in my landscapes. Through this dialogue, my art serves as a gentle reminder to seek hope, warmth, and daily joy, no matter what challenges we face.
My practice relies on intuitive layering—combining rich, tactile textures with fluid acrylic washes, vibrant spray paint, and expressive brushstrokes. By leaving traces of earlier layers visible, each canvas creates a quiet conversation between raw complexity and simple grace. Guided by a warm, golden palette inspired by the changing light of spring and autumn, I aim to evoke a grounding sense of calm.
From my studio in Zug, Switzerland, I create original paintings designed to bring harmony, presence, and timeless warmth to modern interiors.
